Frederik turns 40: Dannebrog party

After the balcony appearance at Amalienborg, a party was hosted aboard the Dannebrog to celebrate Frederik's 40th birthday - it lasted untill 2:00.

It was Frederik himself who wished to celebrate his birthday onboard the Dannebrog. The plan to sail up the Sound between Denmark and Sweden had to be cancelled due to bad weather. Instead the ship staid in the harbour.

Mary wore a new gown by Juozas Statkevicius.

Frederik turns 40: balcony appearance

For his 40th birthday, crown prince Frederik appeared at noon on the balcony of Amalienborg palace accompanied by his wife Mary, and their two children, Christian (2,5 years old) and Isabella (1 year old). His parents also made a brief appearance.

Mary wore a new dress by Hugo Boss.

Prince Joachim's second wedding, to French Marie Cavallier took place in the church of Møgeltønder where the couple resided at the time, at Schackenborg Castle.

The Danish royals were driven from Graasten Slot to Møgeltønder. Among the 300 guests were:

Mary wore a new gown by Ole Yde.

It was the last time she wore the ruby tiara in its full glorious version, as it had been designed for queen Ingrid.

Joachim entered the church accompanied by his two sons, Nikolai (8) and Felix (5).

Arrival of the bride. Marie's gown was designed by Arasa Morelli. Her diamond earrings were a gift from her mother. Her diamond tiara was a gift from queen Margrethe II.

During the service prince Felix had trouble staying awake.
