Opening a stamp fair

5 November 2004, 10 o'clock

Crown princess Mary of Denmark opened the international stamp fair "Frimaerker i Forum" at Copenhagen Forum.






Mary wore new earrings by Marianne Dulong: the Delphis white gold and white freshwater pearl earrings (shop value: 844,00 euro). She has the same in a grey pearl version.


She was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, countess Victoria Bernstoff-Gyldensteen.


There was a big media interest for Mary's arrival. Photographers started pushing and an inadverted elderly visitor of the fair ended up tumbling into a small water basin.




Greeting the only Australian standholder at the fair. They talked for about 10 minutes.

Another wedding gift

2 November 2004

Crown prince Frederik and crown princess Mary received a wedding gift donated by the Danish population: a complete Flora Danica set of dishes and tableware, consisting of 200 pieces marked with the couple's monogram. It's worth 34,000 euro.




It was presented to them at Amalienborg palace.

wedding gift + donation

Frederik & Mary received a late wedding gift from the town of Tommerup: a massive2,80 meter high vase made by artist Gunhild Rudjord. Everyone who donated financially to make the gift possible has their name inscribed on the inside of the vase.

 
 

The sculpture was placed in the park of Fredensborg with the crown prince couple present.



The same day Frederik & Mary made an official donation to Red Barnet, represented by chairwoman Mimi Jakobsen who received the profits of the prewedding Rock 'n Royal concert: 135.000 euro that went to a project in Greenland. This took place at Amalienborg in Copenhagen.

Operation

10 October 2004

On a Sunday, Mary had a gallstone removed at Gentofte Hospital in Copenhagen. It was a small procedure that only lasted for 30 minutes. All went well.

Opening of a new motorway

9 October 2004

Crown princess Mary officially opened a new motorway of about 10 kilometer in Hirtshals. It's the most northern motorway of Denmark, connecting Bjergby and Hirtshals in Nordjylland.

Before the opening there was a small protest against the motorway. But thousands also showed up for the opening and the new princess.
 


 
 As a gift the new princess received a gold necklace by a local jeweller.
 

 
Mary was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, countess Victoria Bernstoff-Gyldensteen.



Mary wore a new Marni coat and a new bracelet by Marianne Dulong.


  
The press was full of rumours that Mary was pregnant. In reality she wasn't and woudn't be for another 4 months.

Opening of Parliament 2004

Each year the Danish royal family is present at the new opening of Parliament (Folketinget) in October. They attend the first assembly in their box but leave before the opening debate takes place. The entire ceremony is broadcast live on Danish tv each year.

In her first year as a royal, crown princess Mary was present alongside crown prince Frederik, queen Margrethe II, prince Henrik, princess Benedikte, prince Joachim and princess Alexandra - who were just seperated but not yet divorced.

At a breast cancer fundraiser

1 October 2004

Mary was the guest of honor at a lunch of "Pink Tribute", a breast cancer support organisation.115 paying guests were present at this fundraiser.

The lunch took place at the American ambassador's residence Rydhave, on Strandvejen in Charlottenlund.

Opening of exhibition "Horses"

On her own, crown princess Mary officially opened the photo exhibiton "Heste" ("Horses") by Yann Arthus-Bertrand at Nytorv in Copenhagen. She held a speech in Danish.

 
 
Mary wore a new Prada suit, new Prada shoes and a new hat by Susanne Juul.

 
 
She was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, countess Victoria Bernstoff-Gyldensteen.
